Causes

Psychological
The most common reason for a man failing to get an erection is psychological. He might be overtired, overstressed, worried or just desperately lacking self-confidence, depressed or it may be due to excessive demands or criticism of his performance by his partner.
Any type of hostility, anger or resentment towards his partner, constant fear of making a woman pregnant, guilt perhaps about an affair or any other negative feeling about sex, can also be the factors.
Physical
Male impotence usually has an underlying medical condition that causes nerve or artery damage which interfere with the nerve impulses that are needed to start and sustain an erection or with blood flow that is needed to engorge the tissues in the penis to make it erect.
Diabetes, surgery, injuries, vascular diseases, kidney disease, and chronic alcoholism are some medical conditions Smoking & excessive alcohol intake can also cause impotence by narrowing the blood vessels.
Impotence can also be a side effect of certain drugs such as high blood pressure drugs and antihistamines, or low levels of circulating hormones such as testosterone.

Signs & Symptoms

There are varied types of impotence:

  • If failing to get an erection is a rare and short-lived problem, it is normal. But when it becomes a long drawn problem after a period of normal sexual function then there is a chance for impotence.
  • Difficulty in achieving an erection enough to sustain intercourse right from young age.
  • Male Impotence is affiliated with Chronic Insomnia
